June 2016 résumé
The Fellowship finished its year with three very good speakers, plus the AGM and then a lunch. The speakers were Alison Holroyd talking about poetry, the Rev Canon R Brunswick gave us food for thought with his talk about religious practices in Medieval times, and finally, a return of Angela Danby for part two of her life as a journalist.
The AGM took place on May 12th which was followed by a plated tea. There were no surprises regarding election of officers etc. the result of which, can be found on the Fellowship notice board at Saul Street.
During his address at the AGM, the chairman said that the Fellowship membership was now approaching a dangerous level and, if things did not improve, there was a distinct possibility that the Fellowship would have to consider closing. He appealed for more new members to come along to be made welcome and share what the Fellowship has to offer. Potential members can be existing lodge members, lodge widows or even friends of present or past lodge members. Membership contact details are on the Fellowship notice board.
Finally, May 26th saw the ‘wind-down’ lunch which was once again wonderfully prepared and served by the Masonic Hall catering staff under the leadership of Alistair.
A date for your diaries, the first meeting of the new season will be on Thursday 8th September 2016 and will be a talk by regular speaker, Pat Ascroft. If her past presentations are anything to go by, this will surely be very entertaining.
