Another first for Lodge of Endeavour

The brethren of Lodge of Endeavour No 7036 performed a first degree ceremony during their first meeting of the 2019/20 Masonic season.

Scott Rutherford.

Calling the brethren to order, the meeting was duly opened by the master of the lodge Ron Docherty. The candidate, Scott Alexander Rutherford, was admitted into the lodge and initiated into Freemasonry in a ceremony that was appreciated by all the visitors present.

The various explanations introduced as part of the ceremony were given by Andy Rowe and Daniel Howe. Following his initiation into Freemasonry, Scott listened to a presentation of the first degree charge, given in full by Andy Rowe. To aid his understanding of the work within the lodge, Scott was presented with a copy of the lodge development pack prepared by Alan Howarth. The pack contains extracts from the ceremony and an explanation of lodge procedures.

As usual, after the meeting, everyone enjoyed an excellent meal and jovial company in the dining room. At the festive board, Alan Howarth expressed his thanks to Scott and welcomed him into the lodge with a reading of the poem ‘3 knocks’. All those present took the opportunity to wish Scott well, as this year’s first new member, just starting his Masonic career within the lodge.

Scott, in turn, by way of response thanked the brethren for the warmth of their welcome and hospitality; he felt very much at home in the company of ex-servicemen and it was his hope that he would serve the lodge well.
